FILM REVIEW: BOBBY

Went to see “Bobby” last night with the better half. I think that it is only fair to look a this film from two different directions. Firstly, from my point of view, I’d read up on the film and had a fair idea what to expect, and also being a bit of a history buff I was aware of Bobby Kennedy and the state of affairs in the US at the time of his run for the presidency. So, from my perspective I found the film to be an excellent look at the events of the night of the assassination of Bobby Kennedy through the eyes of the people working in the Ambassador Hotel, the scene of the event. However, if you were not aware of the background of this film, like herself, it is harder to get into, but still enjoyable.

This film is definitely a labour of love for director Emilio Estevez (of 80’s “brat pack”) and this seems to hold true for the inter-stellar cast, all of who put in excellent performances. It is an indictment of the impact that Bobby Kennedy had on American life that Estevez was able to assemble a cast of A-list actors without any one of them being the “lead” in the film. To me it definitely seems that all of them did this film because they wanted to, not because they were just paid to!

Go see it, let it was over you, take it all in and enjoy it!
