FLIM REVIEW: THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM – “THIS SUMMER JASON BOURNE COMES HOME”

Plot Outline: Bourne dodges new, superior assassins as he searches for his unknown past while a government agent tries to track him down.

Main Cast Members: Matt Damon, Julia Stiles, David Strathairn and Scott Glen.

Took her good self to see this film on Saturday last.  And, all I can say is that from the opening sequence it just bursts into life.  What we seem to have here is, loosely speaking, a thinking man’s Casino Royale.  Yes, its still basically a fictional thriller but it does have a sense of realism unassociated with other films of it’s genre.

This is partly due to the excellent direction of British director Paul Greengrass.  His jerky camera movements give you the impression that you are in fact present during the action.  Also, look out for the sequences filmed live in Waterloo Station in London, and in Tangiers.  These sequences, though more so the London one (for reasons that will become obvious), were filmed “live”.  That is to say that the people in the background are not extras, but were in fact there.  Filming had to be stopped several times because people kept recognising the stars!!

Don’t miss the film, because you will regret it!!
