THE GREATEST TEN SECONDS IN WORLD SPORT??!!??

I was ambling along in the car last Sunday afternoon listening, as I tend to do, to BBC Radio 5 Live.  This is, without a doubt, the station for sports coverage, even if the English/British bias can sometimes be quite nauseating.

Anyway, that’s for another day.  On Sunday they had coverage of the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Osaka, Japan.  At this point I was listening to the final of the men’s 100m.  The commentator, who’s name currently escapes me, referred to the race as the greatest ten seconds in world sport.

Really?

The greatest ten seconds not just in the sport of athletics, but in world sport, eh?  Personally, I’m a huge fan of athletics and even of that particular event.  But for me, sprinting is just behind professional cycling with regard to drug abuse.  So, therefore even though my idealistic mind would like to think otherwise the even is probably tainted.

But the real question is this.  If its not the 100m what is the greatest ten seconds in world sport?
